Graduation and Certification Requirements
Basic ADHD Coach Training
A student at ADDCA may be taking courses for a variety of purposes. Therefore, ADDCA offers different levels of accomplishment for the Basic ADHD Coach Training program:
I. Certificate of Completion
II. Graduation (AAC designation)
III. Certification (AACC certification) (see requirements below)
I. Certificate of coach training hours Completion (without AAC designation):
A student can receive a ‘Certificate of Completion’ of the ADDCA Basic Coach Training program, without AAC designation, if they elect to only attend and participate in teleclasses and complete the module reviews. Students wanting a 'Certificate of Completion' do not have to complete the requirements of mentor coaching, client coaching hours, welcome packet creation, coaching feedback, and final oral evaluation.
II. Graduation (with AAC Designation):
A student can graduate from the Basic ADHD Coach Training program and receive an ADDCA Associate Coach (AAC) designation. A student can receive an AAC designation with a minimum of 91.5 hours of coach training by:
- Completing the Simply ADHD(Module 99), Personal Transformation (Module 100) and Basic Course (Modules 101-104) at or above the required attendance level
- Successfully completing the Module Reviews for each module
- Meet Supervised Coaching teleclass requirements- (Total 6: Coach 2x / Observe 4x)
- Working with an ADHD PCC/PACC or MCC/MACC mentor coach for at least 5 hours* (additional fee applies for mentor coaching) *
- Obtaining one Letter of Recommendation on his/her coaching skills from an ADHD PCC/PACC or MCC/MACC mentor coach
- Submitting a log confirming that he/she has coached at least 2 clients for a minimum of 20 hours (only 5 hours can be pro bono)
- Having completed and submitted a welcome packet customized toward the coach’s anticipated first client market
- Applying for graduation
- Successfully completing a final oral coaching exam
Please note:
*Group Mentor Coaching can count toward the 5 hours. The group in which applicant was mentored cannot contain more than 10 participants.
III. Certification (AACC Certification**):
IMPORTANT: In order for a student coach to apply for Basic Certification (AACC) they must have graduated with their AAC designation (see above- Graduation with AAC Designation) and met the requirements to apply for (AACC) Certication.(see below- Requirements to Apply for AACC Certification).
Requirements to Apply for AACC Certification:
Before one can apply for this certification at ADDCA, a student must meet the following requirements:
- Be a graduate of the Basic program and have received your AAC
- Have coached at least 5 clients and accumulated at least 75 client coaching hours (Up to 25 hours can be pro bono; the rest must be paid coaching hours)
- Have worked with an ADHD PCC/PACC or MCC/MACC mentor coach for at least 10 hours over a 3-month period and within the six months prior to your certification application
- Have obtained one letter from an ADHD PCC/PACC or MCC/MACC coach who have heard you coach and can attest that you are coaching at the AACC/ACC level
Once a student has graduated from the Basic ADHD Coach Training program with an AAC designation, that student can choose to work toward the next level of graduation (Advanced) or pause and go for graduate certification (AACC) as soon as he/she has met the graduate certification requirements.
This AACC certification will test applicants at the same coaching standards level as the ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC). The benefits of applying for the AACC are that you will be tested by assessors familiar with ADHD coaching and you will have an ADDCA certification stating that you are an ADHD trained coach.
Please note:
*Group mentor coaching may count toward the mentoring requirement of 10 hours, but no more than 70% of the required mentoring hours (in this case, 7 hours) can come from group mentor coaching. The group in which applicant was mentored cannot have contained more than 10 participants.
**There is an additional fee for the AACC application process.
